This car should probably have been listed as a 300d, as it was not a diesel. The mention of injectors was for the gasoline fuel injection system. Nice looking car though.

the picture of the factory stamped badge says 300 d, but it sure looks an awful lot like a distributor on the engine pic...

On those big sedans and phaetons from the '50s,
'd' stands for something like "big sedan" or "delux", not "Diesel!" I've got a former student who inherited one from his grandfather in Sweden (a former ambassador to Italy).

Well if I went down to the 50th picture the coil, ditributor and spark plug wires might have given me a clue.

In the old days, such as the '50's and '60's, and probably earlier, a lower case letter was used to indicate a new version of the same model, such as 300, 300b, 300c, and 300d (don't know if they used "a"). New versions were used when there was some major mechanical or body update to the existing model. It would be easy to get the version "d" confused with the diesel "D", as the seller did in this case. Only diesel people would probably notice the difference.
