I'm Charlie. Mr. Taylor is Chuck.

Just a little rusty. There are 11 people watching that auction (a new stat provided by MyEbay).

There are a lot of people interested in the very few vintage wagons out there. This one might become a parts car for somebody. It might get restored. It all depends on the buyer.

I have yet to lay eyes on it personally. I was informed of the car's existance by email. I arranged the sale by phone, paid by western union (all within 60 minutes). A week later, I friend in the area sent me the pictures from a quick 5 minute walk around.

Then came the "You're didn't", "How could you" and "Were are you going to put it & the 230SL and the 600?". Nothing like owning three incredible old cars (all needing work), and no place to put them at home.

So, I'm ditching the wagon & 450sl. Oh well. Can't have everything. But, I wish I could have this too: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2479686954

My current goal is drive to Philly on Saturday morning and get pictures of the interior and assess the rust, see if the engine turns, and find out what happens when you put a fresh battery in and turn the key.

I have the feeling that if you buy that one you may become it's final passenger. ;-)

BTW Is this were you are storing most of your cars?

That was my backyard for the month of January. It really pissed off the neighbors. I had purchased a lift and needed to empty the garage and the driveway.

That finback is a rust free 1963 300se in primer. Once I replace the master cylinder, it's up for sale.

That toy car used to say "220LT" on the back, but the stickers peeled off. -CTH

LOL.. I bet.. around here that would be a zoning violation.

I finally had to send my other 250 to the graveyard because the house I have been renting has been sold and the new owners weren't to keen on it being in the driveway... it was sad.. I stripped whatever was left before it went that I could get. I managed to hide the bumpers somewhere indoors where my girlfriend can't see them.

It was a zoning violation here too. Our village justice is a nice guy. After giving me 2 months to clean up and all charges were dismissed, he told me about his vintage 60s corvette. -CTH

H ehas this link in the auction:

http://vrx.net/~cth/w111-wagon.html

If you remove the "w111-wagon.html" part, it's like your PC's directories, instead of seeing the file, you see the directory (as long as he doesn't have a file named index.html, that is). As he doesn't have an index.html, it gives a listing of all files and dir's on his server:

http://vrx.net/~cth/

Now, if he had an index.html file in there, even if it were blank, it would load that and not the file directory. It's not ALWAYS needed, if he made it a private DIR, you'd have a 403 (forbidden) or a login/pass prompt.

Shhh.. you're revealing my hacking ways.. that's breaking the magicians code dude

Most commercial webhosting providers these days have private dirtectories enabled by default. I think Charlie needs to make that image his splash page.

BTW I had to sit on a jury for a guy who had gotten into trouble for among other things having half a dozen junk cars visible on his property. I may have cut him some slack if they were mercedes but this guy made no attempt to clean it up over the course of several years and numerous complaints so... :p

Actually I don't know what the result was as I had to get myself excused from services before deliberation. But his last words to the jury were.. "I will continue to do what I have done which is nothing.. I have done nothing and I will continue to do nothing."

What I don't miss is all of that "big brother" nonsence that I lived with in 'Jersey... Now here in SC I can do this all day long and no one gives a hoot, because they have an old car or three in their yard too...
