Is W124 very sensitive to road force vibration?

According to Hunter 9700 web, the GSP9700 road force measurement default limits for P-metric tires is 26 lbs and LT tires is 39 lbs. On the same web page, it also reads, "Known sensitive vehicles may require lower limits to resolve ride disturbance issues. For example, in some cases, an extremely sensitive vehicle may be affected when the tire/wheel assembly is above 15 pounds RFM."

Do you request lower limits when you do road force balancing for your W124? Or do you accept default limit?

I just replaced my tires on my 95/e420 81k miles. put goodyear triple tread 205/60-15. three tires have road force #s under 7 and one was 13/14. I've found that the 124 is very sensitive to road feel. I wouldn't let them put tires on the car that have #s over 20.

I've had one tech balance (actually he was shop foreman) my 300CE so well, there was zero road force on three of the four tires and less than three on the last!

The Michelins run so nice and smooth when time is taken to do the job correctly.

It can get irritating

For me, there is absolutely no question that my W124 is VERY SENSITIVE to all kinds of things related to the tires and alignment. It definitely has to done correctly and with care to get it right. I have only found one very special Porsche shop that can do it as well as the dealer. Quite a number of years ago, I purchased tires from a large reputable tire chain. I had to go back to the shop 4 times and finally the manager did it himself to get it right. That manager was very experienced and he did get it perfect, but the manager doesn't usually get involved. Now I just try to avoid any aggravation by going to the Porsche shop or the dealer.

With my new (installed 3.5 years ago) springs, shocks, and +1 wheel and tire set-up (205/55/16), my car is even more sensitive. More than ever, I only trust the dealer or that Porsche shop. I also prefer to use the very best H-rated Grand Touring tires to try to keep the ride as smooth as possible. I am afraid to try sportier tires or Z-rated tires, because I am sure that they would irritate the heck out of me.

You feel you love them too much, or you are just too stupid to know any better.

I wouldn't go with anythnig higher than 15 and typically want lower than 12 .... the tires on my car right now are all between 6 and 10
