cleaning wheels

ok, i have the oem jack from the 1987 300e that i have and i want to clean my rims inside and out. time to make it shine but for some reason the wrench was not in there. will any wrench work? what size do i need? the wheels are the oem 15 hole 15" wheels. do i need to buy the wrench directly from the dealership? and i have male point jack, so if im doing only one wheel at a time, is it fine if i only use one jack? oh and are the wheel wells supposed to be smooth? mine has a lot of like... ridges, will post picture if anybody wants to verify.

The lug bolts should be 17mm. You can buy a factory lug wrench, but I'd just pick up a cheap 1/2 inch breaker bar and socket. If the last person to mount those wheels was a gorilla at a tire shop, you'll need the breaker bar and probably a cheater bar to get them loose. If you are using the MB jack, do only one wheel at a time.

When you buy the 17mm socket spend a little more and get an "impact" socket which will allow you to stand on the breaker bar if needed without hurting the socket I have had mine for over 20 years with no problem. I use my body weight to break the lugs free, saves my back.

All this translated means push down, not pull up to loosen lug nuts.

The oem tool is very inexpensive and is dual purpost, serving IIRC as spark plug wrench, too.
