1998 E320 fitment question
Will the wheels (size 16) from a 2006 E320 fit on a 1998 E320
The 2006 wheels have an offset of 36 and a Benz part number of 2114013302 I have a Benz Wheels Catalog (from the dealer) and I don't see that number listed anywhere. Any help? suggestions? Thanks...

according to bits and pieces of notes I jot down, the W211 rims uses 14mm 1.5" lug bolts on 14mm radius ball seat. this, in contrast to older W210 which are 12mm. so unlikely they will fit. however, note that otisincla dot com has
conversion bolts which may fit but you better be certain before purchasing. no returns/refunds.

Raymond:
thanks for your reply. Coincidentally, I came across your post on the earlier question of fitment. The wheels in your W210, E320 look gorgeous. that's kind of what I want to do with mine. I am just too cheap to spend a lot of money and I saw what I thought was a good tires-wheel deal, but if they don't fit.... Again, thanks for the info...I'll check out the otisincla people. Thanks.

just so you're clear, the rims you identified wont fit unless you use the
conversion bolts. so the fix will cost you $60. it's just not a simple bolt on with your existing bolts...which may be the much longer bolts. shipping from otisincla is quite fast and they arrived from CA to WA in about 3 days. the rims on mine were from 2005 E55 (w211)

Have you had any problems with your ABS or other electronic ride control goodies due to the different rims/tires? Any performance problems? Again, those rims look great in your E320. They really enhance the look of it.

Any performance problems? The rims have been on for a couple of months now. No anomalies exhibited or felt during this time. Performance takes an oh-so slight hit in that it takes 450 micro seconds longer from a standing start. IOW, just barely enough to be noticeable but this is a medium V6 so it's not as if I'm lauching this puppy for low ETs....no big deal and I forgot about it after a week. If you're asking about the 'different rims/tires'...meaning staggared, I don't think so. What was immediately apparent was the improvement in slalom type maneuvers, clear increase in cornering speed, and less body roll when I changed from 215-55-16s up to 265-45-18 rear and 245-35-18 front. I still have stock suspension and for now, dont feel the urge to slam the ride as others have done. I want to minimize the pogoing; the suspension is too plush so may go with Bilstein HD if I'm convinced that the rebound and compression damping is taunter than OEM MB. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that if you use your existing bolts with the W211 rims, the ball seat will be 2mm too small and not fill the seat properly. There will be less surface area contact between lug bolt and wheel. Also, because your bolt is 12mm and the W211 is for 14mm, it'll cause the rim to be loose while fastened. I really wanted custom forged dress rims, but after a year of saving my pennies, couldn't justify the >$1000 per rim. If I win the lotto and get an E55, then perhaps getting fancy shoes will be in order. But for a hoh-hum E320, I think these AMGs are just the ticket.

Raymond: I've read your posts here and on BenzWorld (especially the ones about your experience with projector lamps).
First thanks for all the valuable info. Second....your E320 is FAR, FAR, FAR from hum-hum. It is a sweet looking W210. Thanks,
