anyone have lugs for steel wheels?
Can someone measure the shank of lugs for steel wheels? The distance below the ball cup to the end of the threads.
Thanks, Sixto 87 300D |

I've got 13/16. I just removed my steel lugs with rims to replace with alloys which are longer.

I got some 99 CLK wheels and they take very short lugs.

In the back of my mind I think read on the tire/wheel forum that the ball on the newer shorter lugs is 14mm vs 12mm on the older/longer lugs??? I may have that reversed.
Someone was making an aftermarket lug that would accomodate the newer rims on older cars.

S-class from the 140 and MLs have 14mm wheel bolts. The rest have 12mm wheel bolts.
There could be a difference between old and new ball-and-cup fittings. greasybenz has the same wheels on his 300D so I'll use the bolts he recommended. FWIW, there's a 71 109 in the cars forum that has the same wheels! Sixto 87 300D |
