Read this need some wheel help
Edited:
I'm intending to get a new set of wheels for my 79 300sd of the w116 chasis how well will 15" 15 hole'rs from an early 124 fit my car? Will I need spacers? How do I figure this out? Ok so 116 has a thirtyfive mm offset and 124 has a 49 mm off set do I just make up the difference with spacers is this safe practice? If someone could verify this they would rock my socks... Puzzled

I have not done it myself but I believe you can use spacers and longer bolts. The excelent H and R spacers are hubcentric. I don't know the dimension of spacer you will need but If you buy a 15 mm spacer for example you will need bolts that much longer than the stock ones. the h and r spacers that I bought did not come with bolts though they were pictured in the ad and it ended up being fairly expensive to do the whole thing. perhaps you can find some spacers and bolts used.
good luck. tom W
