I'm not sure why there would be rust issues? The jack is sturdy, and the screw mechanism comes heavily greased from the start.

Because the jack breaks through the paint inside the jack holes and rust starts. This is commen in New England, usualy you can't use the jack because their is nothing left. If you tried the whole corner would just crush up.
