W126 Wheels

I have a 420SEL, lowered with H&R springs, Bilstein comfort shocks and running on General UHP 235-45-17 tires. Wheels are from Discount tire and have an AMG'ish look, only with some (cheaply made) chrome plated imatation starheaded cap screws to give a two piece look. Chrome is now flaking

The ride is firm, but not harsh, and better than my Saturn! Tires are nearing end of life (25K+) and have performed very well. Want to replace with same.

I'm wanting a set of 17" AMG monoblock wheels (painted). I've come across several sets off later models, but unsure of capatibility. While bolt pattern is the same, offsets and bolt size are something I'm unsure of. Is there any cross reference list of years/models that are usable?

Have almost pulled the trigger on a set of replicas, but am holding out!

Cliff

I can't say with extreme authority about the offset for the 17" AMG wheels, but from all I've understood, for our 80-91 w126 cars, you'll want an offset between 10 and 23 or so, depending on the width of the wheel.

With my 16" Monoblocks, they have an offset of 11, and fill the wheel wells, but don't rub on anything, when mounted with 225/55-16 tires.
Mind you, the fender lips had already been rolled, and that is called for in the AMG/MB installation procedures list from way back when, when they were new.

The newer cars mount anywhere from 34 to 50 offset, so unless you can find, (and don't mind!) some adapters, they don't work all that well.

Best of luck, and happy motoring!
