225/45-17 onto 88 300TE
Does it fit, or does it rub?

Depends on the wheel offset. I run 215/45-17 on 17 x 7.5, ET37 with zero problems. My wagon is marginally lowered with 500E springs and sway bars front and rear, I think I could go 225/45 comfortably.

I have that on right now. No rubbing at all.

The tires will fit, I have heard of wider being fitted with no problems. It's all down to the offset of the wheels though.
Don't 2004 CLK's use the 14mm wheel bolts? If so, you'd need special bolts with a 12mm shank, and the larger radiussed head from the 14mm bolts. |
