Where are you buying your tires?

Looking for a set of tires for an 82 380 SL

Size is 205/70 H 14

Went to my local tire place, (town fair tire,) and they didn't have anything we'd put on the car. Same for TireRack, only 6 results.

So my questions:

1.) is this the OE size for the car ( I beleive it is, )
2.) where are you guys buying your tires?

Ideally would like to put some continentals on the car.

Thanks for any help.

Michelin has a tire in that size, do does General. Michelin is the best IMO, i have them on both of my current cars.

205/70/14 is the correct tire size but you'll find very few H rated tires in that size. There also won't be that many choices since most cars come with at least a 16inch diameter rim these days.

I've had negative results with Michelin in this size which is documented in a thread somewhere on this forum. Mine dry rotted within 3 months of purchase and I came to find out that they had been sitting on the shelf for more then 2 years before i bought them. When I asked, they told me that they don't sell much in this size so they tend to sit. Even after three years however, I would have not expected dry rot.

I took a refund and bought a set of Nexxens for 1/2 the price which gave me no problems. Michilen tires are very hard wearing and if your car is a road warrior, then this is the brand to go with. They do tend to dry rot quite quickly when compared to other brands so they may not be suitable for the weekend driver.

I purchased a set of Kumho for the Red Baron in that size, and have been very happy. They are round, smooth, and quiet.
