C280 with 17" Wheels Roll the fenders ?

I'm looking to place my AMG 17"X7.5 wheels on 225/45-17 tires from my old 300E onto my '94 C280.

I have a catalog from Mercedes Benz (1999) that states I would have to roll the front fenders. I have a stock suspension, so I'm wondering if this is really necessary. Does anyone with this set up have any problems with the front tires rubbing?

If so, can anyone recommend a place in the Pasadena or San Gabriel Valley area that will roll the front fenders?

Thanks.

No need to roll the fenders on C class you can even put wider wheels if you want.

Hi...

By wider wheels, how much wider do you think I can go?

I have a set of 16x8 ET36 rims from my old 300E with 215/55/16 tires. Do you think they'll fit on my 95 C280? I think the rears should be okay, but for the fronts, I'm not sure if the 8" rim with ET36 offset will clear the front suspension components.

Let me know. Thanks.

I've seen 18x8 on c280 i don't see any reason why your 16x8 et36 will not fit.

Thanks, I put the AMG 17X7.5 et35 without any problems. I suspect if you lower the car the front fenders might rub.

I also discovered you can put 17X8 in the rear with 245/40 tires, but IMHO 17X7.5 is better so you can rotate the tires.

The stock suspension is terrible in terms of handling though, the stock 300E suspension was way better....

Thanks for your reply. Are you absolutely sure that the 16x8" rims ET36 with 215/55/16 will fit a 1995 C280, especially the fronts?

Let me know. Thanks.

P.S. I've also emailed Luke@tirerack to see whether he has a database that he can check - but he never replied. Is he on vacation?

How come Luke never replied to my emails? I've seen a few posts from other members directed specifically to Luke, but there's no reply from him.

Does any one know if he's still looking after this forum? If not, is there another person from tirerack whom we should contact?

Not sure if he has done it already - but if he's on vacation, I think he should at least send a note to this forum so that people will know.
