Question Fender Trim

I like the look of fender trim. Is it easy to install? If I don't want to install them, where would I go to get it done? I basically am tool free. That's why I'm asking.

Thanks for your replies.

If you attach the fender trim with screws, in all probability at some point, rust could appear.

Question Please elaborate

Okay if screws are used, rust will inevitably appear. So then what are you suggesting I use? Please advise.

You could try some 3M sticky tape, but I suspect the punishment from the environment would render it useless.

Screws are the only good way to install the fender trim...rust is the necessary evil, although the probability of it being a concern is nil.

Make certain that the install is done with stainless steel sheet metal screws. At least if the holes leave some bare metal exposed, the screws won't contribute further to corrosion.

The previous owner (or dealer) had removed the fender trim on my W124 prior to my purchasing it. The telltale holes around each fender lip was the clue.

As a hedge against rust, I used touch up paint and dabbed around each of the holes. That was back in '98, and I have not seen any problems yet...

Thanks

Thanks for the info...

I purchased my car in Sept 01 and it already had fender trim. Unfortunately for me, one of them was missing AND the other trim on the car are different from each other. Go figure.

After I received my new trim. I took an old one off thinking (more like hoping) that the screws lined up and of course they didn't. But what I also noticed is that the old trim is wider the new trim. Thus showing that the replacements are smaller and shows the scratch marks from the old one. So now I will have to touch up the areas so it won't look too bad.

Anyway, no biggie. Small sacrifice. I love the car! I love the handling, the ride, and the comfort it gives me and my family. Everyone knows this is mommy's car and you better treat it right OR you don't get to ride in it.
