Tire wear on BFGs

Has anyone run the BFG Touring T/A VR4s? I have a set on my '89 420 SEL (126) and have been getting some rapid tire wear, especially on the inside edges. There is only about 14k miles on the set, which I have rotated every 5k miles. The car has been aligned. I am running them on aftermarket wheels that are factory replacements. I've heard that the "copy" wheels may be heavier and may lead to increased tire wear, but I've also heard that the 126 cars go through all tires pretty fast. Any suggestions?

I had 215/40/16 Euro T/A BFG's on my old E30 Bimmer... stuck to the road like glue in the dry ..but they did wear up very quickly.... mine only lasted 14 months... I've not used them since.
