17" to 18 " Change in "feel"
My 2000 SL is due for a set of new tires, and while I'm at it, I'm contemplating going from the stock 17" to 18" rims. The car has the stock suspension (not Sport) and I'm wondering how this upgrade would effect handling, feel and ride. I like the way the car rides now and would do this primarily for cosmetic reasons. Any experiences would be welcome.

don't know if this will help, but going from my stock 15s to 18s created a harsher ride than dropping the car and installing bilstein sports. But, I would go with the 18s on your car because its just a +1 from factory, whereas mine was +3. You will feel more bumps, but on normal roads, you can't feel the difference.

I recently went from the stock 16's to AMG 18's on my SL. The ride is certainly "firmer" but not harsh. Go for it!
