I don't think present day hiphop culture is basically that much different from what Elvis Presley did in the 50/60s. Like then, the music and lifestyle appeals to young rebellious adolescents that are looking for idols. It's only become more and more extreme over the years. In 10-15 years time, there will other artists that will make the Eminem's of today look silly, although to 40+ folks now, this might appear rude and shocking.
What amazes me in hiphop culture is it's popularty among women aswell given the extreme disrespect and degradation of woman in the 'scene'. Seems like feminism has lost this generation.
