The engines are simular, however the 1991 engine has a different exhaust manifold. Internally the engines are very different. Different head, pistons, & the 1991 engine uses an intake manifold pre-heater. By swapping the manifolds the engine should work, but if you live in a "cold" climate area the engine will be sluggish durning warm-up.
