On my 87 300E, the hole in the console wood around the shifter assy was a different size than for the automatic box. Typical DB. Same for teh exhaust hanger bracket that bolts to the trans.
Neil.. You really need a donor car nearby for all the bits and pieces. Do a search here and you will find a huge amount of information on this, most true but some not. If you have a specific concern, let me know and I'll do my best to answer it.
