It all depends on what you want. For me the SDL is a hobby, I want it perfect I don't mind paying for that. If I wanted a cheap but presentable car $5k will get me a nice Toyota.

Having said that it is nice to take a break once in awhile. I havn't washed the 300SD or worked on it in weeks and am loving it.
