The trap oxidizer is on a recall for removal. It tends to get clogged and stuff from inside the trap can break loose and pass through the engine. It is a big coffee can looking thing about eight inches in diameter that comes off the exhaust and goes to the turbo (passenger side of the engine).

A MB dealer can remove it. Just call in your vin and they will verify that it is part of the recall.
