On the W201, I have opened up a couple of LCD displays to locate the controller chip . . . then tracked down the "photofacts" for the chip . . . and found that there was no jumper for switching from Centigrade to Farenheit. Later model North American W201 and W124 came with the Farenheit LCD's.
