I seem to remember a spray or brush on chrome appearing finish sold in model shops for model cars. Perhaps a coat of that with a coat of clear over it might give you enough duribility. The other product that i remember was a mylar based tape used for repairing things like dash trim that you apply with moderate heat and remove backing. Again durability is the question in an outside enviroment. Basically I believe both are aluminum based but look like chrome.
