I recently bought our Porsche 911 and have been seeking advice about putting it up for the winter. One thing everyone seems to say, just as mentioned here, is to change the oil before storing it and then change it again in the spring before starting it. Why put in brand new oil, only to dump it out? If the engine isn't going to be cranked over, then why have any oil in it. I understand getting the old oil out to prevent corrosion, but why put in new oil to just sit there?
