I would start with the monovalve, it's the most likely problem. Take it apart and have a look, it only takes about 5 minutes. If required the rebuild kits are cheap. My experience with a non-funcioning aux pump was that I had normal heat while driving and a reduction of heat at idle, nothing like what you're describing.
