Thanks for being an ass. I am and Electical Engineer and know how to splice Fiber as well as standard Copper Wiring with less than %1 loss. Actually fiber less than %.5 so thanks for thinking I can not seal a small hole a few mm's in size. Also I soldered and shrink tubed the connections and they are inside the car not outside. No water getting in ever. And on a side note why spend three times the money on a part when you can get the same thing for a 1/3 of the cost. No wonder your name is MoneyPit.... An MB is a car like every other there is no reason to spend absurd amounts of money on them if you know where to look and what to do. If I actually wanted to waste my precious time with a scope to check for any outside signals getting in the wire I would but I really have better ways to spend my time. I try to be helpfull on this and other forums to save people money and time. Apparantly this is why the W201 crowd has there own forum because obviously some here would rather throw money at something instead of actually finding and fixing the problem. Hence why I have write ups on another forum with more to come on how to do things for less than $150 an hour. Personally I do not like throwing thousands of dollars at an 18 year old car. Which with all my work and testing I have managed to make it run better than it did when I got it without going to a Stealer and spending thousands on it. I offered a simple suggestion and never said it was the absolute way to do it. It is what I do and in over 15 years working on cars have seen countless people that have more experience than I do the same thing. It is also the reason they sell those little probe test light to check for power. But I guess a whole industry of people are wrong. Including the precious MB mechanics.... I guess we are all wrong... This is the last post by me in this pointless thread. If anyone wants to know how to test there O2 and properly set an old EHA and Fuel System up for good mileage and proper starts everytime you can find me via PM or at 190Rev. I will have the write up done soon for all of that stuff, I already have one for proper setting of the Air/Fuel Mixture that makes it so simple it take less than 5 minutes to check and verify proper operation. I will also soon have one for setting the IACV without needing to go to the Stealer or buy expensive test equipment. All done with a VOM and some patience. And the only one you would have to either piece a wire or use the paper clip type method is the O2. I will be looking more at that connector to see what the best way to not have to pierce the wire so the people who do not know how to seal a wire back up have another way to test.
Sorry but I am here to help not hurt anyones car so if there is way I will find it. There is no reason owning an older MB has to make it a Money Pit....
