OiL leak, M103 3Ltr. 300e 1991

Hi, looking for a little info from those knowledgleable with thi M103, in a 1991 300e. 256000 miles!!!
I have a bad head gasket (oil in The Coolant, Driven that way for 2 years now) and a fairly bad leak out of the rear passenger end of the motor somewhere (Onto the Floor), I am planning on haveing the gasket replaced and head rebuilt, next week, ($1500 Job).
My Question: Is the M103 known for commonly leaking oil in rear beyond the head gasket or valve cover, Perhaps the rear main seal like common on small block chevys with high mileage.
I,ve only owned the car about 6 months and knew it needed the gasket when I bought it and have little history of it before my purchaseing it.
the car Runs, Drives and looks incredable for it's age and mileage.
Possibly the $1500 might be better spent on a used motor with lower mileage, than the R@R of the current gasket and head.
I just don't want it leaking oil after the head R@R.
Thanks in advance For You Comments and input.
John
