I called the only autozone I could find open tonight and they can only get codes from cars 1996 and newer. The lady did tell me that other Autozones my have the code reader I need. So I will call more in the morning.

The next step is to find the EGR valve, where do you think that might be? I had a 300sd (Diesel) for years and knew that car inside and out but I am very new to GAS cars and sometimes feel helpless. Any help would much be apprecaited.
