As an afterthought.........Most likely the squeaking and creaking is not actually caused by the shock itself. You might consider having a knowledgeable MB mechanic check out the entire suspension for something that might be causing the noises. I've seen quite a few posts regarding lubrication of various suspension parts to correct this..
