Yeah i would have the battery tested them move from there. If the battery is low on electrolyte solution and you drained the battery with low solution than you lose half the capability of that battery. Also you might want to make sure that the cells keep maintained as to get optimum preformance. ANd changeing the alternator is a little tricky but can be done with relitive ease. Basicly its abouit removing two bolts and the belts dropping it out the bottom and then slapping the new on in and retensioning the belts. Good luck
