Last night I was trying to replace my thermostat on the bimmer. It was getting hot but not as hot as it should be, i.e. the faster I went, the cooler it got. While I was doing an 85mph run home on I-40 it was barely above the cool mark. So I tried to pry the cover off of the thermostat housing but the studs were so rusted to the cover(yes I made sure all the retaining nuts were off) that the aluminum cover ripped before it came off. I've never seen metal tear like that. Now I'm back to bumming cars from my parents because the bimmer won't run and my Mercedes is totaled.
