Since you have a lot of time to repair the a/c, there's a lot you can do now to prep the car for repair. For starters you can disconnect the plumbing and flush the system at your convenience. Also shop for a compressor and dryer, looking for a good deal. Try eBay or other online sources (ackits.com, aircondition.com). Just keep the openings capped to prevent moisture and contaminants from entering the system.

Once you have the compressor and dryer, all you have to do is install them, button up the system, vacuum and recharge.
