Unfortunately, I think that it's unlikely to be the source of the problem in your '85 300D since you'd have to floor the accelerator to activate the kickdown switch. I guess that it's possible that the switch is stuck closed and the circuit is shorted, but that seems like a long shot.
Will do. Man thanks a lot. I searched for two days and couldn't come up with anything remotely concerning this issue. I can't wait to get my hands on the 84 to try it out. I've only gotten to work on it for an hour while my brother had it parked at his work. He'd been complaining off and on for a couple of months about the slow exceleration so I took it for a test drive. It was a dog until about 2500 rpm then the turbo would spool up and throw you back into your seat. I knew she had potential so I turned up the ALDA and tightened up the worn throttle linkage so the lever on the ip went to the stop. Before it was only going half way! Its amazing what a night and day difference these two adjustments made. I bet it does 0-60 in a max of 15 seconds, a lot better than my '85 did at about 22. Thanks again for the help.
