my 500sec has the feature on the bottom of the shift gate. if you push it to the right it will hold it in lower gear when you back off the gas instead of automatically shifting to a higher gear. this will help if in an autocross and want to use engine braking on tight corners.

also i will guess at the first switch., perhaps the upper part is for defrost to give heat and ac together for dehumidification. the bottom looks like a universal ac symbol.
and center position is economy...no ac compressor on duty.
