I've contemplated such a swap (manual 240D in small truck)but have not researched it yet. I think it would be a challenging swap job if even doable...but I think you should try it and let us "watch".
You live in CA... would you be able to drive the vehicle on public streets with the emissions checking hassles you guys have out there ?
