Hi,

I have a 1997 E320 with just 53000 miles on the clock and I've noticed recently that the autobox has lost 5th gear. The box is still shifting smoothly, just not into 5 th gear.

Also I've noticed that the box will not kick down to change gear, although it will manually shift down if you use the auto-box gear shifter.

Whats going on and what's involved in fixing this problem and are the two problems related ??
