That 'stupidity' you've so expertly commented on is an example of Finnish ingenuity. These outlaws have conjured a way to extract insane amounts of horsepower from these engines. Over the last couple of years, Mauri H. and other Finns have contributed to the forum and graciously sent links to pictures of their high horsepower activities with both new and older generation MBZ diesels...search on Finn, Finnish diesel, mynadiesel etc for more.

While I'll probably never attach a Holset megaturbo to any of my 617s or even rev it up and dump the clutch, I for one applaud their efforts because, in one way or another, we all reap benefits from their racing R&D.
