Scott, I was reading through the whole thread and noticed that several items seem outstanding (or at least you did not post results thereby giving the impression that they are still outstanding...)

1) E-gas replacement with the recommended version. Have you been able to locate a proper one? Last you spoke of it you mentioned that you did replace it but with a module not of the recommended version.

2) JimF mentioned adjusting the idle through the accelerator linkage adjustment. Although you did mention that the HHT's reading of your actual RMP is at 800 vs intrument cluster tach readout of slightly below 500. This leads to the next question...

3) Have you been able to account for the disparity in readings (tach vs. HHT), as EricH mentioned?

My take: From the initial symptoms you posted, it seems that the engine stalls when additional stress/strain is placed on it at low idle (use of power steering on slow turns, inclines) Both situations seem to increase load on an engine which may lead to stalling on an already low idling engine. At idle, does it shutdown as well when, say, the a/c compressor kicks in? This, like the two symptoms you mentioned, would also tend to decrease rpms, ceteris paribus, and hence may cause the engine to shutdown as well.
