Boy, what a nightmare of service woes! I checked out the pictures of your car sometime back and it's really amazing. Sorry it's not treating you right. Still at it after 5 months or so?

I too just read the whole thread. It's not a waste of time learning about the quirks of these cars, believe me!

The only thing I can add after sleeping on it is: Have you removed the ASR defeat switch from the circuitry? Considering the way ASR operates, if there was any malfunction in the ASR wiring, I wonder if that could initiate your symptoms?

I think, if you are still fighting this problem, that a summary update is needed now. You've tried so many things that I'm losing track! Can you post a summary?

BTW, my late-'92 500E idles at an indicated 500rpm, in drive and warm. It's a little lumpy at idle when hot, but it pulls cleanly and never starves or stalls (at least since I bought it in March). I wouldn't get off track with added electronics, until you've found the cause.
