actually the car had so little power and the rear end and first gear ratio were so low that i bet the zero to 60 time wasnt much better if you floored it and used first. it just wouldnt acclereate much either way. i think they just offered first in case you had a super steep driveway.

after my lovely number three daughter ran it on gasoline and ruined my newly rebuilt 240 motor i swapped in a 76 300d motor and tranny. it started in second too.
