The forum, advice would be appreciated on my proposed engine swap as follows .

My 1982 500SL Euro has 300,000 Km and the time has come to either recondition the motor or swap the engine as I am using excessive oil even after a full head service .

I have been offered a 1992 560SEC engine with attached 5 speed gear box with the unit having 80,000 km on the clock with good service history .

My Mercedes indi will supply and fit gearbox and engine for about $2000 less than a full reco.

Please advise your thoughts on this SEC engine and 5 speed gearbox as I have never heard of a 107 having this setup .

Will the vehicle perform as good as my 500SL Euro and will the drive be perfect with a 5 speed box .
