No, thats not a saftey feature.
It is an adjustment issue with one of the front doors. The door striker is adjusted too far out (door closes easier) and during driving, the gap is too
large for the door jamb pin switch. The switch triggers and pop goes your
dome lamps and locks.
One way to find the offending door is to lock the car with the remote and
pull rather firmly on the outside handles until you find the door that triggers
the pin switch. The alarm will go off at that point.
Loosen the big torx bolts on the stiker on the B-pillar and move it back a few
millimeters. Use the metal trim strip above the belt line as a indicator to see
how far the door is out or in.
