Lemme see, the warheads travel at around 10,000 mph. An AK 47 or M-16 bullet goes about 2,200. Can you imagine the physics involved in changing course at that speed? I mean changing course would not be impossible, but to do so accurately enough to hit something that small, going that fast, in the vast reaches of space boggles the imagination.
Maybe that's why the successful tests they've carried out so far all had a homing beacon on the target warhead. Or so I've read -- I wasn't there.
