First I would try a tranny fluid and filter change. Check threads herein for procedure if you havn't done this before.
Pay close attention to the color, odor, and general appearance of the fluid coming out, that will give you an idea of what the tranny condition is.
With fresh fluid and filter the cold shifting may improve, it's worth a try. That is not really many miles for a mercedes transmission, you may get lucky.
