A moment for personal exposure to ridicule:

When I was a kid, I used to blow up/set fire to the various plastic models I had built and in which I had lost interest. I fashioned a flame thrower out of the valve oil used to lubricate the valves on my trumpet (another talent long since abandoned ).
I enjoyed watching the plastic soften and lose it's shape, surrendering to the flame and gravity. The hours of time spent to create such delicate objects and the money spent to purchase and gift them to me, not to mention the ingratitude displayed at their destruction, never occured to me as a shameful waste of resources and potential.

As maturity drove on, I eventually abandoned both the practice of building models and the destruction thereof. Perhaps humanity will someday slip into the same condition.
