Ok , I think I have it ..
Flash codes can be gotten from some modules at 38 pin connector, but there is no longer flash code to DM module on 202, meaning you can not flash code for CE lamp retrieve or erase/cancel w/flash.. that is done through the digital under dash with a scanner only..

I guess that is where the confusion comes from.
EA,HFM, ATA,CC etc can be flashed , But DM can not .. [ but they still can on the 104 engined E class of the same years]
I guess that is the first change towards full obd2...
