Before you do anything drastic try contact cleaner. You can get a spray can of it at Radio Shack or at an electronics store.
Put the little red tube on the spray nozzle, pull the plastic seat button off the switch, spray the contact cleaner into the switch and work it back and forth.
It works every time for me.
