As they say one picture is worth a thousand words, great writeup (Greg).
I saw it done at MB, it was a piece of cake then with the help of a piece of soft plastic. I was in there when I thought I had a bad speaker (bad BOSE) instead. I does help to have spare fasteners and a extra hand. The early models had screws under the opening arm rest door covered by plugs, dont fool with any adjustments.
I am fotunate, that my local MB shop forman and I have become friends (my99 Ml and I were regulars),and occasionally gives me tips or has one of his guys do it
