OK, it's not smoking anymore. The trans seems to have purged itself of excess fluid. The dipstick marks are 3/10 of a liter and I put in about 1/2 a quart.

There is some A/T oil on the trans and lots of engine oil under the engine. I suspect the headgasket is bad and needs to be replaced. Time for valve stem seals when I get on with it. I'll also replace the A/T cooler hoses.

In my Auto class tonight, I had it up on the lift to check these things out. I wanted to change out my fuel hoses and filter. No dice, the pump/filter bracket is really rusted as well as the clamping bolts. Back for more parts. I also need the tank return hose and another short section of fuel hose.

Also, on the way to class, there was a sudden and loud buzzing under the shifter. I pulled over and listened for any problems. None found so I went on to class. On the lift, I saw that the shifter bushing was missing, so it must have been chewed up in the driveshaft.

Jeeze, this car is going to be new and I don't think I'll ever 'finish'.
