We were at the public library in Morgan City, LA a few weeks after Nixon opened the gold window and let the dollar start to float when I saw this book “How to Profit from the Coming Devaluation”. Since we'd just essentially started the devaluation that still seems to be going on, I checked it out. It was pretty basic stuff, but it was like the lights came on for me and I quickly became a devotee. Certainly changed my life and started me on the path I'm still on.
Somewhere in the middle of Regan's first term I saw the futility of trying to allow people to run wild unless they were all clones of one another. Of course in a very macro sort of way there is only a free market in everything, but nobody lives long enough to see it.
It's a great philosophy. Without a self interested human element it would be beautiful, and maybe the surviving breeding pairs will be able to make it work for a second stab at humanity.
