hi guys, my great running car is not running so great anymore, lots has happened in the last two days so i will fill you in on the details.
1: car was running great with no issues...no smoke, started great.
2: for whatever reason i decided to add some diesel fuel conditioner just
because it seemed like a good thing to do. Added a very little amount
about 250ml to approx 40 litres of fuel.
3: On the drive home i decided to see what the top speed of my old 240 is
i hit about 80 -85 mph was pleased with that and the car was running fine
probably spent about 1 to 2 min at or near redline.
4: so the next morning i go to start my car and it hardly runs!!!! It took about three cycles of the plugs and would not keep running unless you played with the accelerator. it was not cold out and always starts great.
5: once the car warmed up and you were driving it seemed to run fine.No missing and no smoke...did however seem underpowered. big problems when you come to a stop the car is knocking like crazy, and is shaking (motor mounts and dampner are fine) lots of smoke when you idle, kind of more blue smoke then black.....does not smell like oil.
6: so today i crack the injection lines, and there is no significant drop on #4 cyl the other three all drop off and with number 4 not working the car will hardly keep running on two cyls.
7: so, i put a new injector that i have in the number four, and that does nothing,so then i change #1 to the 4 spot and still no improvement.
8: one thing i did notice is that there seems to be alot more fuel coming from the 1-2-3 lines then there is from #4 line.(could this be something)
I am at my wits end trying to track this down......could there possibly be a restriction somewhere in the IP. i have pulled the fitting and lines and checked and cleaned everything i can think of. if you rev the car up to a high rpm to where it sounds like its running on all four, and then crack the injection line,it does produce a significant drop but no where near what the other 3 drop.
My other thought is.......could i have possibly seized a ring or done damage to the valves by running it hard? the thing is really knocking and smoking at idle, but once again seems to clear at high RPM,although not the power it once had. would a compression check be in order, or is there something else i can try with the lines or the IP?
Sorry for the long winded post, thought i would give as much info as possible
(i dont want a three cyl diesel
